Batey Comunitario is a public community event where artists, musicians, dancers, and neighbors come together through Afro-Latin music, dance, and shared experience.

ABOUT BATEY COMUNITARIO

A shared space for music, dance, and expression

A traditional dance circle where the Puerto Rican Bomba dance and music are performed. The term batey originates from the Taino people and refers to an open, communal gathering place.

During the event, an artist or a group of artists demonstrates Bomba dance moves and explains its cultural significance. Participants are invited to join the circle and join in communal dance. 

The gathering creates a safe space for expression, honors Afro-Latin traditions, and fosters community through shared experience.
