Youth Leadership Council

The Youth Leadership Council gives current participants, alumni, and staff a formal way to share feedback, discuss programs, and help shape HSTF’s ongoing work.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP

A formal space for feedback and leadership

To include youth in decision-making, HSTF established the Youth Leadership Council in FY24. The Council brings together alumni, current youth, and staff to discuss HSTF leadership, programs, and the experiences of young people across the organization.

The feedback and ideas shared through the Council help HSTF stay connected to the people who know the programs best.

CORE COMPONENTS

Youth voice in action

The Youth Leadership Council creates a regular structure for listening, reflection, and improvement.

Current youth, alumni, and staff come together

The Council includes people with direct experience in HSTF programs and community work.

Participants discuss HSTF leadership and programs

Council conversations focus on what is working, what can improve, and how HSTF can continue to support young people.

Feedback informs organizational learning

Staff share youth and alumni feedback at quarterly staff retreats to help guide organizational and programmatic improvements.

WHY IT MATTERS

Helping HSTF listen, learn, and improve

The Youth Leadership Council gives participants and alumni a meaningful role in shaping HSTF. Their feedback helps staff understand what is working, where more support may be needed, and how programs can continue to grow.

This process strengthens HSTF’s commitment to youth leadership, belonging, and continuous improvement.

Stories

Hear from HSTF youth, alumni, families, staff, and community members.

It’s honestly like a second home. I’m part of the Youth Leadership Council, I’m an HSTF ambassador, and I still dance and perform.
